What is KPV (Lysine-Proline-Valine) 10 mg?

KPV (Lysine-Proline-Valine) is a tripeptide and the active C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). In the research literature it is described as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating peptide — associated with the inhibition of inflammation at the cellular level, support of the gut barrier and skin regeneration.

KPV belongs to the category peptides for immunity and hormonal balance. It is the third element of the "immune trio" in the catalog — alongside the immunostimulating thymic peptide Thymosin Alpha-1 and the neuroimmune-axis-regulating Thymulin.

Important clarification: Although KPV is derived from α-MSH (the melanocyte-stimulating hormone), the fragment itself has no melanotropic activity — it affects neither pigmentation nor tanning. It does, however, retain the anti-inflammatory properties of the parent molecule, without its hormonal effects.

In the version offered by Peptology, KPV is available in the 10 mg variant as a lyophilized peptide with high purity, confirmed by independent laboratory analysis (CoA for every batch). The product is intended exclusively for scientific research and in vitro applications.

Variant: KPV 10 mg

KPV is offered in one dosage variant — a vial with 10 mg of lyophilized tripeptide. As a very small molecule (3 amino acids), KPV is stable and economical in research protocols — one 10 mg vial is enough for an extended experimental series.

VIAL CONTENTS

10 mg of lyophilized KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) with high purity, CoA for the batch.

PROTOCOL SCALE

Small molecule, high safety profile — one 10 mg vial for an extended experimental series.

RECONSTITUTION

Max. 3 mL solvent; Peptide Matrix Water™ is recommended.

How KPV works — the anti-inflammatory mechanism

In the research literature, KPV is described as a tripeptide that "dampens" inflammation directly at its source. Below are the three most frequently studied elements.

NF-κB INHIBITION

Blocks the central transcription factor that activates inflammatory genes; lowers pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α).

ANTIMICROBIAL ACTION

Studied for activity against bacteria and fungi (including Candida albicans).

MAST CELL STABILIZATION

Stabilizes immune cells, thereby reducing the histamine response and allergic symptoms.

Why it is a "natural" anti-inflammatory peptide

KPV occurs naturally as a fragment of α-MSH and is therefore easily metabolized and has a very high safety profile. In studies it is positioned as an alternative to classic anti-inflammatories — it acts locally on inflammatory signals without suppressing the entire immune defense. This distinguishes it from the immunostimulating Thymosin Alpha-1 and the neuroimmune-axis-regulating Thymulin.

In gut research, KPV is sometimes combined with BPC-157 and, in the context of tissue regeneration, with TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4). This data comes from the research literature and does not constitute a claim about the effect of the research-grade product offered by Peptology.

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (research framework)

KPV is a very small tripeptide (3 amino acids) with an exceptionally good tolerability profile. The most important research characteristics:

  • Class: tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine), fragment of α-MSH — anti-inflammatory / immunomodulating
  • Targets: NF-κB signaling pathway, pro-inflammatory cytokines, mast cells, pathogen membranes
  • Pigmentation: no melanotropic activity (does not affect tanning)
  • Tolerability profile: very high — the peptide occurs naturally and is easily metabolized
  • Schedule: research protocols describe subcutaneous, oral or topical application
  • Synergy: studied in combination with BPC-157 (gut) and TB-500 (regeneration)

Comparison: KPV vs Thymulin vs Thymosin Alpha-1

Within the same category, it is worth comparing KPV with two other immune peptides — the regulating Thymulin and the immunostimulating Thymosin Alpha-1. All concern immunity, but via different pathways.

KPV (this page) Thymulin Thymosin Alpha-1
Origin Tripeptide (fragment of α-MSH) Thymic hormone (nonapeptide, FTS) Thymic peptide (28 AA)
Main action Anti-inflammatory / gut Neuroimmune regulation (Zn) Immunostimulation (T/NK cells)
Effect on the gut Very high Low Moderate
Safety profile Very high (minimal effects) High High (rare effects)
Best studied for Chronic inflammation, IBD, skin Neuroimmune-hormonal balance Viral infections, immunity

KPV dampens inflammation and supports the gut, Thymulin regulates the neuroimmune axis (zinc-dependent), and Thymosin Alpha-1 strongly stimulates the immune defense. In studies they are presented as complementary. The comparison is indicative in nature and does not constitute a recommendation for use.

Research data on KPV

KPV is the subject of numerous studies on inflammation, the gut and the skin. Below are the most important directions — they concern the molecule, not the research-grade product.

Gut health and IBD

In models of colon inflammation and Crohn's disease, KPV was associated with a marked reduction in inflammation and stabilization of the intestinal mucosa. Hence the interest in it in research on "leaky gut" and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Dermatology and antimicrobial action

The results point to accelerated wound healing and relief of symptoms of psoriasis and severe eczema. In the antimicrobial context, KPV was studied for efficacy against pathogens resistant to classic antibiotics, including Candida albicans.

Systemic inflammation and safety

KPV was associated with a reduction in markers of chronic inflammation throughout the organism. As a naturally occurring tripeptide, it is considered one of the safest peptides studied — easily metabolized and without burdening the internal organs. This is data on the molecule, not a claim about the research-grade product.

Research dosing protocols

Important: The information below describes schedules used in research on KPV. It is provided for scientific and informational purposes and does not constitute a recommendation for individual use, medical advice or administration instructions. The research-grade KPV offered by Peptology is not a medicinal product.

In research protocols, KPV is administered after reconstitution of the lyophilizate — subcutaneously, orally or topically, depending on the research direction:

  • Subcutaneous, oral or topical application per the research protocol is described
  • In skin and gut research, effects are sometimes observed as early as the first week
  • The high safety profile allows longer protocols (up to ~12 weeks with breaks for evaluation)
  • Calculate precise volumes and units in the peptide calculator (max. 3 mL solvent per vial)
  • In gut research often combined with BPC-157, in regeneration with TB-500

These schedules come from the research literature and do not constitute a recommendation for self-administration.

Side effects and safety

KPV is considered one of the safest peptides studied, as it occurs naturally in the organism and is easily metabolized. Side effects are very rare and mild. The data refer to studies on the molecule.

Tolerability profile

  • Very high — the peptide occurs naturally
  • Easily metabolized, does not burden the organs

Very rare (mild)

  • Slight irritation or redness at the injection site

To consider

  • Hypersensitivity to components
  • Short breaks in protocols to assess the condition

In correctly planned research protocols, no serious side effects are observed. This information is scientific in nature and does not constitute an instruction for use.

Storage and reconstitution

KPV is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a vial. In lyophilized form it is stable at room temperature, protected from light and moisture — refrigeration before reconstitution is not mandatory. After reconstitution, stability depends on the solvent used, with Peptide Matrix Water™ significantly extending the peptide's lifespan.

  • Before reconstitution: room temperature, in the original packaging, protected from light and moisture. A refrigerator is not mandatory.
  • After reconstitution with Peptide Matrix Water™: stability in the refrigerator +2 °C to +8 °C for up to 60 days under appropriate laboratory conditions — the stabilizing formula extends the peptide's lifespan relative to standard solvents.
  • Freezing: not recommended — freeze/thaw cycles degrade the peptide structure.
  • Reconstitution: in a laboratory setting, Peptide Matrix Water™ is usually used, added slowly down the inner wall of the vial, without shaking.
  • Volume: maximum 3 mL of solvent (capacity of a standard vial). For a precise calculation of volume and units, use the peptide calculator.
  • Homogenization: after adding the solvent, wait 10–15 min and gently roll the vial between your hands. Do not shake.

Laboratory tip: With your order, you can add Peptide Matrix Water™ to the cart — a stabilizing solution developed for working with reconstituted research peptides. More on this in the article Bacteriostatic water vs acetic acid vs matrix water.

Frequently asked questions about KPV

What exactly is KPV?

It is a tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine), the active fragment of the hormone α-MSH. In studies it is described as a strong anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating peptide, associated with inhibition of the NF-κB pathway, gut support and skin regeneration. The results come from the research literature.

Does KPV affect skin color or tanning?

No. Although it is derived from α-MSH (the melanocyte-stimulating hormone), KPV is a fragment without melanotropic activity and does not cause darkening of the skin — unlike, e.g., Melanotan.

Can KPV be combined with other peptides?

In gut research, KPV is sometimes combined with BPC-157 and, to support tissue regeneration, with TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4). These are combinations described in the literature, not recommendations for use.

How does it differ from Thymosin Alpha-1 and Thymulin?

KPV mainly dampens inflammation (especially in the gut and skin), Thymosin Alpha-1 strongly stimulates the immune defense (T/NK cells), and Thymulin regulates the neuroimmune axis (zinc-dependent). Together they form a complementary "immune trio".

How is KPV stored and reconstituted?

The lyophilized vial is stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. After reconstitution with Peptide Matrix Water™, stability is up to 60 days in the refrigerator +2 °C to +8 °C. Do not freeze.

What you need

Precision pipette

Calibrated, 100–1000 µL — for accurately measuring the volume of solvent added to the vial.

70% alcohol swabs

Two swabs — to disinfect the peptide vial and the solvent vial.

Peptide Matrix Water

Stabilized solvent for lyophilized peptides. Why this one.

Five rules for reconstitution

✅ Correct ❌ Mistake
Disinfect the vial caps and the work surface with 70% alcohol; wear gloves Working without disinfection
Add the solvent slowly along the vial wall Direct jet onto the powder — foaming and denaturation
Gentle rolling between the palms Shaking — foam, which denatures peptides
10–15 minutes waiting at room temperature Mechanical mixing or heating
Visual check: clear, particle-free Working with a cloudy or discolored solution

Calculating concentration

⚠️ Maximum 3 mL solvent. The standard vial does not accommodate larger volumes — do not exceed during reconstitution.

  • Concentration (mg/mL) = mg in the vial ÷ mL of solvent
  • Volume per sample (mL) = amount per sample (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL)
  • 1 mg/mL = 1 µg/µL · 1 mL = 1000 µL

Reconstitution per vial — solvent: Peptide Matrix Water. Concentration after adding the solvent (1 mg/mL = 1 µg/µL):

Vial+ 1 mL+ 2 mL+ 3 mL
10 mg10 mg/mL5 mg/mL3.33 mg/mL

👉 For any vial and solvent volume — use the calculator. It calculates the concentration (mg/mL, µg/µL) and the volume per sample (mL, µL).

Storage

BEFORE RECONSTITUTION

Room temperature, protected from direct light, in original packaging. Refrigerator not required.

AFTER RECONSTITUTION

+2 °C to +8 °C, up to 60 days with Peptide Matrix Water. Discard any remainder after this period.

FREEZING

Not recommended. Freeze/thaw cycles degrade peptide structure.

Four mistakes to avoid

1. Shaking "to dissolve faster"

Foam = denaturation. Only gentle rolling between the palms.

2. Inappropriate solvent

For peptide stability use only sterile, specially formulated solvent — recommended Peptide Matrix Water.

3. Ignoring slight turbidity

Not fully clear = the sample does not meet the criteria for use.

4. Taking it out of the refrigerator "for an hour–two"

Short exposures add up and compromise stability.
