What is Hexarelin (5 mg)?

Hexarelin is a synthetic hexapeptide of the GHRP group (growth-hormone-releasing peptides) and a ghrelin receptor agonist (GHS-R1a). It is a structural analog of GHRP-6, but with greater stability and higher receptor affinity — in the literature described as the most potent synthetic GH secretagogue, triggering the release of growth hormone at doses up to 10 times lower than GHRP-6.

Two features distinguish Hexarelin. First — potency: it binds GHS-R1a more strongly than ghrelin itself and produces the strongest GH pulses among the classic GHRPs, additionally inhibiting somatostatin (the hormone that blocks GH). Second — cardioprotective action via the CD36 receptor, which in studies is described as independent of growth hormone (observed even in GH-deficient models). This distinguishes Hexarelin from the other secretagogues.

Hexarelin acts on the GHS-R1a receptor — the same one as Ipamorelin or GHRP-2, but distinct from the GHRH receptor targeted by analogs like CJC-1295. Because these are two independent pathways, combining Hexarelin with a GHRH analog gives a strong synergistic effect in studies.

Hexarelin is studied in the context of the GH/IGF-1 axis, hypertrophy, regeneration and cardiovascular function. It is a research peptide — it holds no authorization as a medicinal product. It belongs to the category recovery and anabolic peptides.

In the version offered by Peptology, Hexarelin is supplied as a lyophilized peptide with purity above 99% (HPLC/MS), confirmed by independent laboratory analysis (CoA for every batch), in a 5 mg vial size. The product is intended exclusively for scientific research and in vitro applications.

Available vial size: 5 mg

Hexarelin is available in a 5 mg lyophilized format that covers typical research scales — from single in vitro series to longer GH-axis protocols, including schedules combined with a GHRH analog.

5 MG

Standard vial size

Lyophilized GHRP hexapeptide with purity > 99%, for research on the GH axis, hypertrophy and cardiovascular function.

COMBINED SCHEDULE

+ GHRH analog

Classic research model: Hexarelin (GHRP) + CJC-1295 (GHRH) — two receptors, synergistic effect.

The 5 mg vial size has purity > 99% and a laboratory certificate for the batch. Due to Hexarelin's high potency, precise dose calculation is important.

How Hexarelin works — the most potent GH secretagogue

In the research literature, Hexarelin is described as a molecule with three characteristic features — exceptional potency, cardiac action and a tendency toward receptor desensitization. These three elements together define its profile.

GHS-R1a RECEPTOR

Binds the ghrelin receptor more strongly than ghrelin itself and inhibits somatostatin — producing the strongest GH pulses among the classic GHRPs.

CD36 RECEPTOR (HEART)

Activates the CD36 receptor in cardiac tissue — in studies associated with GH-independent cardioprotection (protection from ischemia, better calcium handling).

DESENSITIZATION

High affinity means faster receptor desensitization — which is why protocols use short cycles with breaks.

Why potency and cardioprotection matter

Hexarelin is the most potent of the classic GHRPs — it produces larger GH pulses than GHRP-2 or GHRP-6 at the same molar dose. Additionally, its action via the CD36 receptor makes it unique in this class: in research models its cardioprotective effect was observed even under GH deficiency, indicating a mechanism independent of the growth axis.

The flip side of high potency is faster desensitization of the GHS-R1a receptor, which is why Hexarelin is used in shorter cycles than other GHRPs. In research schedules it is combined with a GHRH analog (e.g. CJC-1295) acting on a separate receptor. This data comes from pharmacological studies and does not constitute a claim about the effect of the research-grade product.

Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Hexarelin

Hexarelin is a metabolically stable hexapeptide, described in the published data as a fast-acting secretagogue with a short profile, triggering a strong GH pulse soon after administration.

  • GH peak: about 30 minutes after administration — one of the fastest-acting secretagogues
  • Half-life: short, on the order of about 55 minutes (approximate figures from the literature)
  • Targets: the ghrelin receptor GHS-R1a (pituitary) and the CD36 receptor (cardiac tissue)
  • Potency: GH-releasing activity at doses ~10× lower than GHRP-6
  • Somatostatin inhibition: additionally increases pulsatile GH release
  • Research schedule: subcutaneous administration, in short cycles (e.g. 4–6 weeks) with breaks

Hexarelin vs Ipamorelin vs GHRP-6

The table below compares three GHRP secretagogues acting on the same GHS-R1a receptor, but differing in potency, selectivity and side-effect profile. Hexarelin is the most potent, Ipamorelin the cleanest, and GHRP-6 stands out for strong appetite stimulation. The data are scientific and comparative in nature.

Hexarelin Ipamorelin GHRP-6
GH pulse strength Extremely high (the strongest) Moderate to high High
Effect on appetite Minimal / none None Very strong (intense hunger)
Effect on cortisol / prolactin Minimal (possible at high doses) Minimal to none (the cleanest) Moderate increase
Desensitization risk High (short cycles) Low Moderate
Distinguishing feature Potency + cardioprotection (CD36) Clean GH profile Appetite stimulation

The values are approximate and come from the pharmacological literature on GH secretagogues. The table is scientific and comparative in nature and does not constitute a direct head-to-head comparison or a claim about the effect of the research-grade product.

Research and clinical data on Hexarelin

Hexarelin is one of the best-studied GH secretagogues and an object of particular interest because of its cardiac action. Below are the most important observations from the literature.

Strong growth hormone release

In studies, Hexarelin produced a marked increase in plasma GH concentrations soon after administration — stronger than other classic GHRPs at an equivalent dose. This profile makes it a tool for research on peak GH pulses and the GH/IGF-1 axis.

Cardioprotection via CD36

A distinguishing feature of Hexarelin is its cardioprotective action, associated with the CD36 receptor and the regulation of calcium handling in cardiomyocytes, as well as protection from ischemia-reperfusion injury. In research models these effects were observed even under GH deficiency, indicating a mechanism independent of the growth axis.

GHRH + GHRP synergy and desensitization

The combination of Hexarelin with a GHRH analog (like CJC-1295) is in studies associated with stronger GH release than either component alone. At the same time, high receptor affinity leads to faster desensitization, which is why the literature recommends shorter cycles with breaks.

Research dosing protocols

Important: The information below describes schedules used in research on Hexarelin. It is provided for scientific and informational purposes and does not constitute a recommendation for individual use, medical advice or administration instructions. The research-grade Hexarelin offered by Peptology is not a registered drug.

Due to its high potency and tendency toward desensitization, Hexarelin is used in studies in short cycles, subcutaneously:

  • Subcutaneous (SC) administration, usually on an empty stomach; GH peak ~30 minutes after administration
  • Cyclicity: the literature describes shorter cycles (e.g. 4–6 weeks) with breaks — to limit desensitization
  • Dose precision: due to the high potency, accurate calculation of the amount is important
  • Combined schedules: Hexarelin (GHRP) + GHRH analog (e.g. CJC-1295) for a synergistic effect

In GH-axis protocols, Hexarelin is sometimes combined with CJC-1295, and in regenerative protocols with BPC-157. These schedules come from the research literature and do not constitute a recommendation for self-administration.

Side effects and safety

In research observations, Hexarelin is described as well tolerated with correctly planned cycles. Side effects are usually mild and dose-dependent, and the key aspect specific to this molecule is receptor desensitization.

Frequently observed (mild)

  • Tingling in the limbs
  • Transient sensation of warmth
  • Slight redness at the injection site

At high doses

  • Transient increase in prolactin / cortisol
  • Water retention
  • Headache or fatigue

Specific to Hexarelin

  • Receptor desensitization with prolonged use without breaks
  • Effect on glucose handling (GH axis)
  • Hypersensitivity to formula components

Most side effects are mild and reversible, and desensitization is limited through cyclicity. This information is scientific in nature and does not constitute an instruction for use.

Storage and reconstitution

Hexarelin is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a vial. In lyophilized form it is stable at room temperature, protected from light and moisture — refrigeration before reconstitution is not mandatory. After reconstitution, stability depends on the solvent used, with Peptide Matrix Water™ significantly extending the peptide's lifespan.

  • Before reconstitution: room temperature, in the original packaging, protected from light and moisture. A refrigerator is not mandatory.
  • After reconstitution with Peptide Matrix Water™: stability in the refrigerator +2 °C to +8 °C for up to 60 days under appropriate laboratory conditions — the stabilizing formula extends the peptide's lifespan relative to standard solvents.
  • After reconstitution with bacteriostatic or sterile water: stability in the refrigerator +2 °C to +8 °C for up to 28 days under appropriate conditions. Do not refreeze the reconstituted solution.
  • Reconstitution: in a laboratory setting, Peptide Matrix Water™, bacteriostatic water or sterile water for injection is usually used, depending on the protocol.
  • Volume: maximum 3 mL of solvent (capacity of a standard vial). For a precise calculation of volume and units, use the peptide calculator — particularly important given Hexarelin's high potency.
  • Homogenization: add the solvent slowly down the vial wall, without vigorous shaking — peptide bonds are sensitive to mechanical stress. Swirl gently, do not shake.

Laboratory tip: With your order, you can add Peptide Matrix Water™ to the cart — a stabilizing solution designed for working with reconstituted research peptides. More in the article Bacteriostatic water vs acetic acid vs matrix water.

What you need

Precision pipette

Calibrated, 100–1000 µL — for accurately measuring the volume of solvent added to the vial.

70% alcohol swabs

Two swabs — to disinfect the peptide vial and the solvent vial.

Peptide Matrix Water

Stabilized solvent for lyophilized peptides. Why this one.

Five rules for reconstitution

✅ Correct ❌ Mistake
Disinfect the vial caps and the work surface with 70% alcohol; wear gloves Working without disinfection
Add the solvent slowly along the vial wall Direct jet onto the powder — foaming and denaturation
Gentle rolling between the palms Shaking — foam, which denatures peptides
10–15 minutes waiting at room temperature Mechanical mixing or heating
Visual check: clear, particle-free Working with a cloudy or discolored solution

Calculating concentration

⚠️ Maximum 3 mL solvent. The standard vial does not accommodate larger volumes — do not exceed during reconstitution.

  • Concentration (mg/mL) = mg in the vial ÷ mL of solvent
  • Volume per sample (mL) = amount per sample (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL)
  • 1 mg/mL = 1 µg/µL · 1 mL = 1000 µL

Reconstitution per vial — solvent: Peptide Matrix Water. Concentration after adding the solvent (1 mg/mL = 1 µg/µL):

Vial+ 1 mL+ 2 mL+ 3 mL
5 mg5 mg/mL2.5 mg/mL1.67 mg/mL

👉 For any vial and solvent volume — use the calculator. It calculates the concentration (mg/mL, µg/µL) and the volume per sample (mL, µL).

Storage

BEFORE RECONSTITUTION

Room temperature, protected from direct light, in original packaging. Refrigerator not required.

AFTER RECONSTITUTION

+2 °C to +8 °C, up to 60 days with Peptide Matrix Water. Discard any remainder after this period.

FREEZING

Not recommended. Freeze/thaw cycles degrade peptide structure.

Four mistakes to avoid

1. Shaking "to dissolve faster"

Foam = denaturation. Only gentle rolling between the palms.

2. Inappropriate solvent

For peptide stability use only sterile, specially formulated solvent — recommended Peptide Matrix Water.

3. Ignoring slight turbidity

Not fully clear = the sample does not meet the criteria for use.

4. Taking it out of the refrigerator "for an hour–two"

Short exposures add up and compromise stability.
