Cagrilintide (also known as AM833) is a synthetic, long-acting amylin analog. Amylin is a pancreatic hormone secreted together with insulin that acts via amylin receptors — complexes of the calcitonin receptor with RAMP proteins (AMY1–AMY3). The molecule is built on a human-amylin backbone with inspiration from calcitonin, and an attached fatty-acid residue provides reversible binding to albumin — which gives it a long half-life and enables once-weekly dosing.
Unlike incretin agonists such as Semaglutide (GLP-1), Tirzepatide (GLP-1/GIP) or Retatrutide (GLP-1/GIP/glucagon), Cagrilintide acts via a separate pathway — the amylin receptors in the central nervous system. This is why in the literature it is described not as a competitor of GLP-1 agonists but as their complementary partner — combining the two mechanisms (amylin + GLP-1) produces an additive effect in studies.
Cagrilintide is studied in the context of obesity and metabolic disorders — both as monotherapy and in combination with semaglutide. According to publicly available data it remains an experimental molecule and holds no registration as a standalone medicine. You will find the ready-made amylin + GLP-1 research combination with us as CS10 (Cagrilintide + Semaglutide). See also the other peptides for weight loss (GLP-1) in our category.
In the version offered by Peptology, Cagrilintide is supplied as a lyophilized research peptide with purity above 99% (HPLC/MS), confirmed by independent laboratory analysis (CoA for every batch), in a 5 mg/10 mg vial format. The product is intended exclusively for scientific research and in vitro applications and is not a medicinal product.
Cagrilintide is available in lyophilized 5 mg and 10 mg formats, which cover typical research-work scales — from single in vitro series to longer protocols, including schedules combined with GLP-1 agonists.
5 MG
Standard format
A lyophilized amylin analog with purity > 99%, for research on amylin and calcitonin receptor signaling and on schedules combined with GLP-1.
10 MG
Extended format
Double the amount in a single vial — for longer series, higher target concentrations and fewer reconstitution cycles.
COMBINATION
CS10 (Cagrilintide + Semaglutide)
A ready-made amylin + GLP-1 research combination in a single vial — for protocols studying the additive effect of both pathways.
The 5 mg and 10 mg formats have purity > 99% and a laboratory certificate for the batch. The choice of amount depends on the scale of the protocol, not on the concentration of the active substance.
In clinical and preclinical publications, Cagrilintide is described as a molecule that mimics the action of amylin by stimulating amylin receptors in the brain. These mechanisms act via a pathway separate from the incretins (GLP-1/GIP), and are described in the literature as signaling at the amylin receptors (AMY1, AMY3) and the calcitonin receptor.
AMYLIN RECEPTORS
Cagrilintide activates amylin receptors (including AMY1 and AMY3) and the calcitonin receptor; the literature describes this through intracellular cAMP signaling.
CALCITONIN RECEPTOR
Amylin receptors are formed by the calcitonin receptor and a RAMP protein (RAMP1–3); cagrilintide is therefore described as a dual amylin and calcitonin receptor agonist (DACRA).
SYNERGY WITH GLP-1
The amylin pathway is separate from the incretins, which is why combining it with GLP-1 (e.g. semaglutide) is studied as simultaneous signaling at two separate receptor systems.
Amylin and GLP-1 are two separate signaling pathways — they act via different receptors (amylin/calcitonin receptors and the GLP-1 receptor) and complement each other. This is why Cagrilintide is studied primarily as a partner to GLP-1 agonists, not as their replacement. In the combination study with semaglutide, adding the amylin axis to the GLP-1 axis produced greater body-weight reduction than either molecule alone.
This concept is being studied in an extensive clinical program (including phase 3 REDEFINE for the cagrilintide + semaglutide combination). The results presented come from controlled clinical trials and do not constitute a claim about the effect of the research-grade product.
Cagrilintide is an acylated amylin analog which, in published pharmacokinetic data, is described as a molecule with a long half-life thanks to reversible binding to albumin — which explains the weekly dosing schedule used in clinical protocols.
The table below compares Cagrilintide with a GLP-1 agonist and with the ready-made combination of both pathways. The key difference is one of class: Cagrilintide is an amylin analog (a separate pathway via amylin and calcitonin receptors), not an incretin agonist — which is why it is often combined with GLP-1 rather than compared as an alternative. The data are of a scientific-comparative nature and do not constitute a direct head-to-head comparison.

Sources: Lau et al., dose-finding phase 2 study of cagrilintide, The Lancet (2021, n=706); the REDEFINE 1/2 program for the cagrilintide + semaglutide combination (NEJM 2025). The data presented come from different clinical programs and should not be interpreted as a direct comparison or as a claim about the effect of a specific research-grade product.
The clinical program of cagrilintide is developing along two lines — monotherapy (an amylin analog) and combination therapy with semaglutide. These results concern the clinically studied forms and come from controlled trials.
Early clinical studies documented good tolerability with weekly dosing and a long half-life (~180 h) resulting from binding to albumin.
In a 26-week, dose-finding phase 2 study, 706 adults with obesity or overweight received cagrilintide at five doses (0.3–4.5 mg SC weekly), placebo or liraglutide 3.0 mg, together with a lifestyle change. The mean body-weight reduction was 6.0–10.8% in the cagrilintide groups versus 3.0% in the placebo group. These results come from a controlled clinical trial and do not constitute a recommendation for individual use.
In the phase 3 REDEFINE 1 study (about 3400 adults with obesity without diabetes, 68 weeks), the cagrilintide + semaglutide combination produced a mean body-weight reduction of 20.4%, versus 11.5% for cagrilintide alone, 14.9% for semaglutide alone and 3% for placebo. A body-weight reduction of ≥ 20% was achieved by about 60% of participants in the combination group. These data illustrate the additive effect of combining both pathways and come from a controlled clinical trial.
The parallel REDEFINE 2 study evaluated the cagrilintide + semaglutide combination in adults with type 2 diabetes, documenting a significant body-weight reduction and improved glycemic control.

The research-grade Cagrilintide offered by Peptology is not a registered medicine.
In clinical programs, cagrilintide was used in a weekly subcutaneous schedule with gradual dose titration — which aims to improve gastrointestinal tolerability:
Like the GLP-1 agonists — Semaglutide and Tirzepatide — Cagrilintide in studies requires slow titration to improve tolerability. In combination schedules it is paired with GLP-1; you will find the ready-made combination as CS10. These schedules are part of controlled clinical trials and do not constitute a recommendation for self-administration.
Cagrilintide is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a vial. In lyophilized form the peptide is stable at room temperature, protected from light and moisture — refrigeration before reconstitution is not mandatory. After reconstitution, stability depends on the solvent used, with Peptide Matrix Water™ significantly extending the peptide's lifespan.
Laboratory tip: With your order, you can add Peptide Matrix Water™ to the cart — a stabilizing solution designed for working with reconstituted research peptides. More in the article Bacteriostatic water vs acetic acid vs matrix water.
Cagrilintide is a synthetic, long-acting amylin analog — a pancreatic hormone. It activates the amylin receptors (AMY1, AMY3) and the calcitonin receptor. It acts via a pathway separate from the GLP-1/GIP incretins. The results come from controlled clinical trials.
GLP-1 agonists (such as Semaglutide) act on incretin receptors, while Cagrilintide — on amylin receptors. These are two separate signaling pathways, which is why Cagrilintide is studied mainly as a complementary partner to GLP-1, not as an alternative. Combination studies examine both pathways together.
The biological half-life of cagrilintide is about 7–8 days (~180 hours) thanks to reversible binding to albumin. This is why clinical protocols use a weekly schedule — similar to the GLP-1 agonists in our catalog.
The lyophilized vial is stored at room temperature, protected from light and moisture — without the need for cooling before reconstitution. After reconstitution, stability depends on the solvent: with Peptide Matrix Water™ — up to 60 days in the refrigerator +2 °C to +8 °C; with bacteriostatic or sterile water — up to 28 days. Avoid refreezing.
